So I have decided to redo one of my friends website for a favour. I've put most of the important stuff on the index page, which has made it just over 8000px in height, and have got most of the donkey work done. What I'm having a bit of block with is how I'm going to add a bit of colour, or texture to the background of the elements, without it starting to look too gordy and unprofessional. Just so you all know, it is only the nav bar links that have been sorted, so don't waste your time clicking links that don't work. You can either use your mouse wheel or the nav bar to navigate the website.

Here it is!

What do you think?

I know very little about web design, so I was hoping someone would have some useful feedback. That being said, my impressions of the site are, The initial page is a shock coming from a generally bright page and really threw me off. I'm sure something brighter is going to go there, but man it really needs it. I like the scrolling feature. It's a bit weird at first, but cool and different. I thought it moved a bit to fast for my taste, I accidentally scrolled past pages a couple of times. The page layouts work for me and the information is straightforward and easy to read.

That's all I got right now. Hopefully someone will come along with some better insight. :)

Too dark at the top mate, looks lost in the detail if you know what i mean, the rest of it works well for me.

Thank you both! Yeah I agree totally about the top having to be brighter, thinking I might put a jquery slider there to make it a bit more interesting. Good point about the speed as well.

Hey Spruce,

I like the idea, but the site is a little dark as stated previously, and the image detail on the front page is a little "rough" shall we say? the images look quite pixelated and the text is not as clear as the logo at the top. but the colour scheme is great, if you perhaps tackle those small issues i think it will look great!

I would simplify it down a bit and make text stand out more gets lost in some of the pages with all the images you dont know where to focus in on.

have text alligned not justified.

wrap text around in 1 direction makes it a lot clearer

have nav bar on all pages.

Watch your language in your notes people still like to read page source to check it out and if there are hidden comments like "end of ****** page may not go down to well for visitors or clients.

I would ditch all the pictures and have them maybe in a jquery or flash banner jquery or any form of animated banner is better than flash as you get to label your images for seo easier so easily detected by google.

<body link="#990000" style="height: 7284px; width: 100%; Unusual to see pixels and percentage mixed this can cause browser errors

across platforms.

I was half way through making the website, and I saw a website that just scrolled down the page using a curtain effect, and decided to do that for this. This version that is on the server is the bits of info that I had put in the first one, placed very roughly on this scrolling site, once it looks how I want it, I will redo the whole site properly.

I'm just working on a few issues with what order everything should go in, and whether to have that nav bar as a dropdown tab from the top nav bar I'm fitting a few canopies and ducting for him this week, so I should be able to get some decent images, rather than the low res ones used for his last site.

Last night, I came across a website that had a slideshow that had 3d effects, but the plugin is premium, so I'm gunna do it myself, luckily he is in no rush for it as I'm not the fastest at coding. I've not used flash for a website since Apple stop the flash support in their devices. I just wouldn't be able to live with myself if any sites I did, didn't work on the most popular devices.

I think this is good website for knowledge and also very informative web site i come here and get very knowledge from this forum and thinking to send this forum to my friends for increase their information and they share and get information of this website forum.....
