I was wondering where I can find a link or tutorial of how to make web templates in PS. You know, so I can structure my design and not have to use these horrible frames. }:\

Thx for your help,

-Joe

Hey wait...

Is there anything specific you're not sure about in this subject?

Creating a Web page design in PS is fairly straight forward. I'm sure by now you're familiar with what a Web site looks like as far as design and layout are concerned, right? Well... just create that type of design/layout visually in PS, then apply the slicing tool to separate each area into its respective parts. PS will create a html table layout for you automatically; when you save using the "Save for Web..." function.

If you have any specific questions about using the slice and html creation tools, just ask.

here is a very quick ps template that I threw together for someone else,
look at it and you will see as Mark said it is just a picture or drawing set out in ps then sliced up..... as this had a couple of roll overs it was turned over to IR but if you look at the sets and the image it just might help you understand

any image you do in ps is a template........ slice it up and you can use it for a web page...... :righton:

Ah, that is what I needed to hear... that would make sence...

Thx.
This design really doesn't have anything to do with the site.. but I like it so far.

hahhaa pretty funny yous guyzzzzzz. :bustagut:

Wait...
A good tip for ya... break that splash page image into smaller pieces. Make the animated parts their own image. Right now the entire image is 200+kb. That's way too big, especially for just one image. Under optimal internet circumstances... that's a 40+ second wait for a 56k user. [saywhat] And that's just to "see" your "front door"... never mind getting into the actual site.

Break it into 3 pieces -- top ani saved as Gif, middle section saved as Jpg @ med compression, bottom ani saved as Gif. See if that helps get that file size down. :B

That is a great idea... now how do I go about doing that. [confused] I took the image (animation) into Photoshop and cut out the middle portion like you suggested. Now how do I put both the .jpg (middle) and the .gif (top and bottom) together as one aligned file to upload to my site?

Or, as I reread your comment, how would I go about putting three files (Top, Middle, and Bottom) stacked on top of one another to look as if it was one file? Hope that makes sense? for the time being I?m just going to lower the size of the initial animation and see how that works. Though I would like to learn how to slice up and image in multiple loading parts for quicker viewing.

Thx,

-Joe

*EDIT*
Nevermind... I've messed around with the idea on another page and have found a way through my troubles. thx though.. If you would like to see, click the link below.

pretty cool Wait :righton:

I'm not sure what you are talking about??

I changed the image on my first page like you recomended Mark... If anyone has a dial up modem, tell me what you think on load time.

Thx :righton:

when you click on a movie IE opens with the viewer in the middle..... then IE dissapears and you are left with only the viewer in which it continues to download and then play the movie

hmm... I've tested it on two different machines. What happens for me is the movie opens on a separate window that is attached to the left hand part of the the IE window..

Joe, I just checked out your website and you did a great job optimizing it. Loaded super fast. I'm at work and they have computers from the 1950's here ... lol ... they still have Windows 95!

I love the rollover effect on your left navmenu links. Those are cool. A good-looking site such as yours you should design your own Cascading Stylesheet for it. I'm no web professional, but I designed my first stylesheet and it wasn't that hard at all.

I just got done designing something extra for my site.. So far I have put a good amount of time into it and was wondering what people think. If you want feel free to check it out. The URL is www.joekiske.com/test.htm . I really need to change the wording of the text; you'll see what I'm talking about once you read it. I typed that running on lack of sleep and after a 10 hour work day.

Thx, I haven't yet learned CSS but hope to do so in the near future. Once I get that down I'm sure it will eliminate a lot of my design issues. That and I can't wait to learn flash. :righton:

:righton: Looking good Wait!

I don't know what you mean about the 'wording', though... [confused] The wording on what, specifically? Did I miss something, I'm wondering?

Yeah, I deleted it... I should have edited my post. ;\
