I need to create a brand new design for my friends site.
I have to make it as a vector image, but i have no idea how to create and save said request.
Any help appreciated.

The actual image/design i will be doing but i have no clue where to start or how even to save it?

do you actually want a vector file as in Ai or a vectorised effect.

To make a vector all you need to do is do it in illustrator using the tools and shapes in there then save it as an illustrator document

However this will be the equivalent to a psd in the way you cant upload a psd file to a website and have it displayed as an image the same goes for illustrator.

So the question is do you want a vector based graphic or vector for printing.

If you would like to create a vector image for web then you will need to export it from illustrator as a png or any web format using the file export rather than file save as.

If you are not comfortable with the tools in illustrator then you can do it all in photoshop by converting everything to work paths then going to export > paths to illustrator this will create an illustrator file for you to open once you select each element you will get to see the fill and stroke options etc to begin coloring your vector.

That said if it doesnt need to be true vector you can probably get away with using the vector tools in pshop all though using vector shapes in PS do not display as smoothly as they do in illustrator but yet whenever they are printed they are perfect.

It's for a website header banner H, so no need for printing.
Thanks.

Then export for PNG is your best bet you may want to change the default from CMYK to RGB though many browsers will display CMYK funny even if it looks ok on your screen it probably wont when the image is hosted on the server.
