Vector drawing in PS7?

Is there a way to draw with the encil or brush where the computer automatically smoothes out your lines? I do believe this is vector based. I can do it in flash, and I'm so darn sure you can do it in PS7, but for the life of me I can't find any sort of option to click. Am I insane? I've searched all over the place for info on this, and I keep getting other stuff...anyone know?

In PS 7 both the pencil and the brush tools are bitmap tools, not vector. I think the closest you could come to smoothing would be to use the pen tool to create work paths, load the path as a selection and choose Select > Modify > Smooth followed by filling or stroking the selection. Does that help at all?

PS. Welcome to the forums!

No - you can do this in Photoshop too.

Use the Freeform pen tool - and set the tolerance quite low. This will make smooth vector lines which you can easily stroke using the Enter key on your numeric keypad.

markzebra,

That's good to know! I've never gotten used to the Freeform pen tool as I'm fairly handy with the regular pen tool. I'll have to go give it a try.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum toekneebullard and austizmo! :) :)

:righton: Nice little tutorial on "auto smoothing" using the free-form pen tool austizmo!

[stuned] I've been using PS for over a year and have never known about this! ;\

:D Like I always say, we learn something new in PS every day!
