Hello Guru Community :cool2:,

I've been searching around for an overall well organized and active graphics forum, and I really think I've picked a good one.

Although I am currently in high school, I am graduating in less than a year and in that time I hope to really boost my designing skills so that I can follow the path of becoming an online freelance graphics designer. I've also considered blogging and photography as an extra very part-time side job. My main profession right now is Photoshop, but in the future I may look to study After Effects as well. I consider myself to be on an intermediate level, however that needs to and will be changing.

I've only done mediocre things for people (signatures, avatars), and while I may not be getting paid I use the work for experience. I have also used photoshop to do photo touch-ups (editing photos to get rid of blemishes and what have you). My biggest goal is to better myself in Photoshop and move on to bigger projects such as website designs and more entertaining logos, etc. Things that are in high demand. But I cannot do that until I fully understand the functions of everything that photoshop has to offer, such as masks, color profiles, and whatever else there may be.

Time is in my favor right now, so I'd like to take part in this community and sharpen my skills to begin working when I graduate. I want to work my own hours, you know? :)

Regards,

(delicious) Vanilla.

Pleased to have you...

I'm guessing your from a gaming community lol by making Avs 'n Sigs. That's where I first started.

This is not a gaming community so please try some another site who belongs to gaming forum.

It's also not a site for members to make assumptions on, we are all here to help each other in any way we can, that includes showing/describing and linking to off site related Photoshop work for all members, so please apologise to the member for your crass and wrong comment.

it's a pretty weak comment on your behalf if you ask me,

number 1, there's no rule against gaming related work on photoshop gurus so there is no need to enforce something that doesn't exist especially when you are unauthorised to do so.
number 2, there is a section called the off topic section which clearly lists "games" in the description, so technically Vanilla can yap away about games for all the admins care, so long as it's in that area.

number 3 if the rules did get tight on that stuff, you'd be asked to leave as well as photoshop is a photo editing program not a logo design program, so think next time yeah?

I agree with Paul you should at least apologise for saying that.

aaanyway.
I would love to see your work Vanilla, it sounds pretty interesting, I like gaming stuff too! :D

Thanks guys. I didn't mean for this to be such a big deal, even though I do hate when people speak when they have no idea what is going on.

As for posting my work, I'll have to do that later. I have a bunch of photography on my Flickr, so I guess I can share that.

Oh, and I have a bit of a silly question. People mainly use Illustrator for logos right? Do any of you use Illustrator? If so, do you think it's harder than photoshop?

Hey Vanilla don't worry too much, sometimes i can be a drama mama XD

as for illustrator, yes, seeing as it uses vectors rather than pixels, it's much better with the printer and upscaling.

and I have to use it in my A levels, it's a necessary evil for me, but I realised how long it took me to get used to Photoshop so i cope...
