examples attached.
When I use this tool to enlarge a line of print in a document I am then left with a thin outline which I then have to eliminate using the paintbrush tool.
Is there a way to prevent the line when enlarging?

I use the Rectangle Marquee Tool selection and then the transform (Ctrl + t) to enlarge the text. and that causes the outline.

OK, using your technique.

Make a selection with the Rectangular Marquee Tool...

Cmd/Ctrl + T to enter free transform...

Make it larger. No thin outline.

The only thing I can think of is it's the quality of the document and text that you're trying to enlarge.

Care to post your example document or image to be tested?

I'm somewhat suspicious that the white line is there but just can't see it at that size. Once enlarged, it shows up.
Just a thought...

I think I may have resolved the issue...When I use the marquee tool I set the feather tool to 0 it was previously set at 1.
I will see how that goes on the next few documents.

No, the line you are seeing is in the original before transforming/enlarging..........I just checked.

Here (from the first image in post #2) you can see where it was included in the selection. The line of selection was below/outside and included the line you're seeing.

The process should not cause a line unless there is a difference of coloration at the selection line and the coloration of the area (BG) where the transformed line finished up. As long as the BG color is consistent, there will be no line.

@IamSam - we're in agreement here. The white line existed before the enlargement but couldn't be seen clearly until it was enlarge.
Seems the comment from the OP above that he feathered the edge only made it worse.

Here's yet another example.

I took it that he said he set the feather to 0 when it was previously set to 1. They seemed to think this would solve the issue. It won't.

Tested this again.
2 images one set at 0 feather and one set at 1 feather. at the top right of the images the 1 feather has the faint outline of the `box` that was enlarged, the other not.
The main issue for me is when printing the faint lines are clearly defined. so I have to brush them out.
I hope my terminology is ok as I am just a casual user of photoshop.

Ooops that should read top left. Its the text box you can see the faint line to the right and underneath the text.

I can't seem to reproduce your results.

Before selection and enlargement.

After selection and enlargement. (Done exactly as you described)
There may be some artifacts (upon zoom) due to the poor quality of the image, but no lines like you have.

There has to be something else you are doing that you are not aware of that's causing the problem! Sorry!

And probably something simple, however using the 0 feather on the marquee tool appears to stop about 90% of it for some reason.
Thanks for trying though.

You're very welcome. Sorry we couldn't solve the mystery. Maybe another member will have an idea!
