Hi Angie, welcome to PSG.

The best way to get rid of a background is to learn about 'Masking'.
The eraser, background eraser and extract filter have their uses but are what is termed - Destructive.
This means that once they have been applied, that is it. You cannot restore that part at a later stage.

When you use a mask, it is independent of the image and can be edited at any time to add to or subtract from the bit of the image you want to get rid of.

Go tothe PSG welcome page and follow the link to the tutorial section. You will find a range of tutorials there to get you started.
Have a go at some of the beginner tutorials and see how you get on.
Just post back here and we will help you along when you get stuck.

Have fun, Al.

Thanks
