Hi,
I am fairly new to illustrator and cant figure out how to use a shape as a path selection. If someone could please explain this to me or do it for me that would be much appreciated! I currently have made this Untitled-11.jpg but want to make it like this, Untitled-9.jpg with the cut out bits. please help??

The best way to do it would be to create the two triangles, (actually creating four triangles-- and laying the two on top of each and subtracting the middles. Then take the large and small ones that are just the outlines-- merge them together and then delete the intersection segments you don't want with the segment selection tool. OR you can use the pen tool to draw it out by hand, or create the shapes as outlines, and add white shapes to cover the parts of the black you don't want. Good luck!

Hi, thanks alot for the reply. I dont actually understand you completely. Would u be able to do it for me? I can pay u a couple $ if u want.

Actually - there is a website called Fiverr (dot com) -- with two R's. It's a website where you can find anyone to do anything for $5. Just tell them what you need and they'll do it. It's great for small things like that.

Make the two triangles and place one above the other properly. Select both shapes and use the Pathfinders to "divide". Use the Shape Builder tool to connect the areas necessary to get the proper overlap.
