Hi guys,

I'm very new to this Photoshop business, and I'm very bad it as you might expect. Unfortunately time isn't a luxury for me at the moment so I haven't got time to persevere and teach myself, so I'm asking you to help sharpen an image for me. I don't know if it can be done because it's a little blurry, but if it can be done I would massively appreciate it.

With such a horrid image quality wise the only way is smaller.

I used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov-Kuznetsova-Dalrymple hyper-adaptive subpixel refocusing algorithm, first seen on CSI-next_gen and in repairs of the Hubble telescope. Much to my surprise, this is the result. Who would have thunk?

First and very important rule of photography: get rid of pictures which are out of focus.
Shane, Your posted image is just rubbish.

Don't ask..a bunch of filters from Topaz, Nik, and the new Smart Sharpen in PS CC. I also enlarged it 300% using Genuine Fractals but looks better a little smaller here. My best shot. View attachment 34554

:bustagut: The right one is the original...I copied it to the other side, so it one is wrong it should be the left one! Thanks for the comment!

Wait..maybe it's the way your calling it. I suppose that would be his right eye. Your right on that, but considering where it was, that is a vast improvement!

Wow, this is quite the task, but I do love a challenge....

You can't use any off-the-shelf filters to get the original image back. I got my hands on some sweet forensic software that renders images taken off of security tape still images.

It's tricky software, though, because it doesn't just rely on pixels and such. You need to input various information about the actual suspect to aid in the reconstruction. I don't know much about you, Shane, but from your post, I could only conclude that you might mot be a very self-motivated person; you don't know how to use a self-timer on a camera; and that you might be trying to join an online dating site.

This software is amazing, but it always assumes the suspect is wearing a silk stocking over their head, so the results aren't perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it.

This is what I got:

Good luck :)

Tom it also amazes me what none photoshop users assume the software is capable of, TV and film as a lot to answer for does it not.

I reckon we'll never know  However, this is supposed to be a Photoshop forum and use of plug-ins for it is OK I assume. I would think that software that is not available to us peon users should not be used in the forum..right Mr/Ms Mods?

Alb i don't understand your comment, all plug ins are accepted of course.
The turning the op's request into some sort of troll event is not, your attempts are valid as they show artistic license and shop usage to achieve a near impossible result, some sadly see it as an opportunity to insult, and that's not on.

I laugh every time a TV show has the "graphics expert" "enhance" a blurry as hell image or video still to get a better look at the perp. I tried explaining why it can't be done to my wife the once. I used the analogy of "OK imagine you have five large rocks. You take those large rock and make a face, two eyes one for the nose and three for the mouth. Pretty crappy looking face, but recognizable as a face nonetheless. Now imagine a huge weight coming down on those rocks and crushing them into a bunch of little rocks. Once the weight was lifted back off, lo and behold, you magically had an amazing portrait of the Mona Lisa."

That's the same thing those TV programs are saying they are doing when they "enhance" a blurry picture.
She just shook her head, not understanding a thing I said. Moral of the story...Photoshop is magic to most people. :)

Paul, I was replying to Tom Mann's post previous to mine. The images were taken down so, guess I will never know what that software Tom apparently was referring to will do. That's all.
So, your saying we can use just any software we want to make images and post them here? Is that what you mean? I don't understand "troll event" ..what does that mean? I didn't understand why the OP was attacked verbally by the poster about camera skills and self motivation...huh? I'm not very smart, but that would insult ME.

I removed some images that i deemed to be troll like, Tom must have seen them before i deleted.
As for what software you use anything is good, just not the troll like photos.
