Just bought a mac and installed elements 4. When I open an image with finder I receive the following message:
Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found.

I can't just change the file format to .psd. I need to upload them to a website the requires .jpg format. I can't email them either.

What have I done or has photoshop done?

Hi ldarby,

I don't use mac but for your problem i think the .jpeg file was not correctly saved. In Win Pc also i saw some of these type of files.

check the file extention and its current format by right clicking on the file and selecting the properties.

If the file extension show you that it is in jpeg format then try this application that mostly opens many different formats ie ACD see....if the file is opened in ACD then edit and resave the file with jpeg extenstion.

I want to mention another thing here you mentioned the use of elements and other application here,so every app saves files in their own file format like photoshop as .PSD first check out this.
