well it's the 10th month of the 11th year and the letter O for Ubuntu users worldwide.

and i have to say dispite the slow startup of wine apps like photoshop, it's the best and i mean BEST version of ubuntu yet, it's easy on the eye, slimline, and quicker when it's all up and running.

and best of all for tablet users, is no faffing about with tablet drivers anymore, most tablets are now supported out of the box with ubuntu 11.10!

the whole unity interface (including nautilus and the software centre) has been refined and mastered into a work of art, everything isn't nearly as blocky and annoyingly big as in 11.04. i love it. if any of you ubuntu users get prompted to upgrade. go ahead and do it, you wont look back.
I've noticed an increase in speed and a reduction in temperature since the update.

I'll post some screenies later.

What made you decide to try Ubuntu?
It seems there would be a lot of challenges to get it up and running.
I tried it on an old laptop and couldn't get the wireless to work.

well i got fed up of windows and it's (lack of) security, the constant "restart to complete updates now" thing, it's BSODs the constant errors, it's ugliness, the fact that it has to install useless driver for EVERYTHING you plug into your PC and how slow it is overall. there was one particular moment with a trojan called kryptik.E which stopped all my programs working correctly. so i immediately got on another PC and researched linux based OS's as i had remembered of their security. at first i was after fedora, but their live disks werent available when i needed it. so i tried ubuntu 10.10. they delivered a live disk to me after 2 weeks of waiting. and i installed it. immedediately loved it. and for a year i've been using ubuntu without an issue and i'm slowly beginning to suss it all out.

Installation is as easy as ABC allot easier than windows XD

if the wireless doesn't work then you must be using a realtek card in there. i THINK the issue has been solved in 11.10 as a toshiba i installed it on had a realtek wireless card and it worked without fail.

my whole house is a linux based house now. no one uses windows.

You can download the Ubuntu installer for Windows, so you can have a duel boot computer, without having to create any partitions or anything. The installer will do it for you. I now have 64 bit Windows and 64 bit Ubuntu.
