Typography Effect

Hi everyone,

I'm not totally new to Photoshop, and pretty much know my way around, but I'm having trouble with a project I'm working on, and would appreciate any advice

I'm trying to create something very similar to the photo attached, with different text of course.
I've done very little typography up until now, and pretty much don't have any idea where to start with this.
How do I create this kind of 3D characters, and get them to conform to the shape of the different parts of the hamburger? I'm assuming I'd find appropriate textures to color them with, but how do I get them to squeeze into these areas like this?

Make your text layer, restersize it then use puppet warp maybe??

there's something here that came before puppet warping, and it is 3D extruding with texture
and to me it looks like plugin usage probably alienskin.
warping to shape came on later.

Looks to me like it's a 3D render tweaked in Photoshop. Which means you need a 3D program to truly get that effect.
