turning colour white

hi,
i need some help converting this image into white. i've tried all sorts of tutorials from curves, levels etc, but nothing quite does the trick of making it brilliant white.
can anyone be kind enough to suggest what to do please?

One way is to select the frame and save this selction to an alpha channel; then with this selection active, use a Hue/Saturation layer to desaturate; set a Levels adjustment overtop and use the white point sampler in Levels on the brightest point within the frame to bring the RGB values to 245.
With this alpha channel, you can make futher adjustments with curves and the mask to the frame independantly.
