I cut out some text in this rift logo here:wjWaJHt.png
and I want to patch over the rest of the dark blue texture background to cover the empty spaces. How can I do this without cut-pasting blocks of texture which makes it look awkward?

Well, that might depend on who you ask. Matching the stone texture may be next to impossible, but you could search for it. I would start from scratch using what you have as a template. The chrome border is a simple layer style, and then you could add your own texture, matched as close as possible to the original. You could also use the Clone Stamp Tool, work zoomed in and in very small areas while sampling often. I feel you my be unhappy with the results. You could use the Pen Tool and cut out the textured area and replace it with new texture.
