trying to enlarge and getting unwanted pixelating and white boarder in GIF file

I'll admit it up front, I'm a way better photographer than a photoshop wizard. I'm attempting to take a gif file of my son's schools mascot, an indian chief, and make it large enough to be digitized & then embroidered onto his new Varsity Jacket. The gif is purple with a translucent background. When I attempt to place it, it gets a white pixelated boarder around the purple art work. Not sure if this is normal. My worry is that when I send it to the folks embroidering it, that they'll enlarge the photo & they'll also get this white nasty boarder & it will turn out awful.

So, I've got 2 problems, we want the Indian chief embroidered in white & it is purple now. When I enlarge the file in purple, it looks great to the 10 inch size file I'm placing it on. However, when I try to change it to white in the 10 inch size, it shows this rough pixelated looking boarder. In fact, no matter what size it is, it always shows this white boarder.

Is there a way to fix this white boarder thingy & also "digitize it into

I attached the GIF file of the Indian

Thanks for any help...Kevin

I would suggest a Vector. If you want the purple sections to be white, the current white sections will just be empty space in the embroidery I take it?

I'll give it a go for you.

I have this as a vector for you that looks like this. I didn't do any cleanup on it. You will have to give me your e-mail via PM because I can't upload a vector format here.

Ok.. the 1st image is a original vs the new one. I tried to keep the abstract shapes as close to the original but rounding off some of the smaller details.

The 2nd image is what the 10 inch PS file looks like. If you would like this file let me know :)
Don't worry about the color in the background. It's is just a separate layer, and completely removable.

any unsupported files place in a zip or rar directory and it can be uploaded like a regular picture

Thanks Larry, I sent the email over...

I won't know for a while if the jacket turns out like we hope, but you've made it seem like it should turn out great now.

Get the one SPWA made too. That way the embroidery guy can use which ever works best. He did a better job than me on cleanup.

ok, that is also amazing. Makes me want to make my own varsity jacket again!

As long as it is vector format, the embroiderer won't have an issue with either version. All they will have to do after loading the vector into their software is choose what stitch to fill it with. Everything else is very much automated.

Right. That is why it did not require any embellishment.

I wanted to thank everyone for their help.

I ended up using Grant's (SPWA) image, as it was pretty special.

My son wanted to thank you as well, saying, "that is sweet, be sure to thank him..."

I'll post up a image of the finished jacket when it arrives later in the summer. Until then, here is a photo of what we hope it will look like when finished.
