Try a bristle brush for quick, realistic cloning of hair

A few months ago, the "art pen" for my Intuos tablet went MIA. I finally broke down and ordered a replacement. It arrived yesterday, and I'm now having way too much fun reacquainting myself with it.

Anyway, I thought I'd share with everyone one of my favorite little tricks:

If you need to extend the hairline of someone, instead of using a boring soft, circular, plain brush, use a flat, sparse, stiff, high contrast bristle brush for the stamp tool. Such brushes can do a very nice job picking up individual strands of hair, leaving the underlying skin showing through in a very natural way (ie, without undue softening). Below is (literally) a 10 second example of what it can do.

There are lots of possible variations of this technique, so have fun & play around with it.

Cheers,

Tom M

You're absolutely right, MIke. I also use them to tweak the edges of masks to get an authentic edge. If you have any examples you can easily lay your hands on, that would be a great contribution to this quick-tips thread.
