Trouble Placing Images

Hi,

I am trying to place an object in a new photoshop project. However, photoshop keeps placing an image that I used in another project and I don't know why. I have tried multiple images but it keeps coming up with the same one. Not sure why since it is not the same file path or the same image name. Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

Nancy

What is the object?
Have to tried just dragging and dropping the object?

Are you selecting "all" before you use the copy command? If you don't select with a selection tool or select all, you will not copy whatever is on your layer. Then Photoshop will just use whatever is still on your clipboard.

And Sam is right about drag and drop. Just put the two files next to each other or one atop the other and drag the layer you want over to the doc you want it in.

Just to clarify,I understand this to mean that the OP is trying to do this via File/ Place...right?

Yes Larry I believe that the OP is referring to the PLACE function. Placing is similar to a open or drag and drop without the smart object conversion and smart object transform ability, both of which can be added after a drag and drop. This is why I was curious if the drag and drop would work.

I have tried to get my PLACE function to act as the OP describes, but it won't.

The only other choice I can think of is resetting Ps's preferences.
