hello,

I am creating a logo for a client. I had to use the company's parent logo to place with the logo I was creating. The original logo file that I was sent was in jpg format. when I created the logo in illustrator and saved it as transparent the original jpg logo saved with the original white background. Im not sure how I could fix this and am open to any suggestion.

Thank you!

if you have to use previously made jpg logo try to vectorize it, or better ask for it in vector format.
when exporting any type of logotip from the illustrator export it in .eps format. it will preserve
transparency (if it was made transparent) and moreover preserve its scale-ability.

Hello,

Unfortunately the jpg logo is the only version that she has to give me. Would I vectorize it using photoshop or illustrator? Also, how do I preserve its scale-ability? Last question! - originally I made and saved the combined logos (mine and the parent companies logo together) in illustrator. Would that be the best way? Or would saving it in photoshop be better?

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply, you have no idea how much of a relief it was to see your post.

:-)

you do vectorization in vector program, and here it is illustrator.
of the quality of jpg image given to you depends how the vectorization is going to be successful.
after you vectorize-combine- do the exporting from illustrator into .eps format that you will choose from the drop down list.
dont hesitate to ask any further question.
