hi everyone , just trying a photo for my son in law , the sign is all over the place , ive tried to clone some of the pattern , ive tried exposure burn at 70% on the white parts of sign which helped but it still looks awful

some techniques you would use in a case like this id be very interested to have a look at and practice

how does this look?
hogbreath.jpg

basically all i did was smooth the image on a duplicate layer.
then added the detail back using the hightpass filter plus some color correction

the boy looks great , i hadnt started any work on the color or the pig yet , i was focusing on the sign in the backround , i was hoping to find a technique to tidy that up, also the pig looks like hes back end dissapears , in the original there is a dark shadow in that area but i can work on that later

At the risk of stating the obvious, there are a lot of problems in this image that good photographic technique could have prevented. Doing a proper job of fixing them (eg, reconstructing the blown areas of the sign, the hind end of the pig, etc.) will take much more time than I'm willing to invest, but here's a quick pass over the image to try to improve the overall appearance without getting into a lot of detail work.

HTH,

Tom M
