Too abstract?

Is it too odd? Too abstract?
The same photo (one face one picture) but split and spaced on opposite sides

It's not that it's odd, it just defies most compositional standards. Leaves a lot of empty space in the center and your eyes bounce from left to right. I really can't say that I'm a huge fan of this image, sorry. But others may like it!

It's not too abstract, I've seen it before in advertising. But the black BG makes sense only when you use it for white text and the logo of a product. Then it can be the main focus of your picture. Try to make a fictional "shampoo ad" and post it again. This would be very interesting to see.
