I'm looking for help with converting outlined objects to simple paths.
There are hundreds of these per file and hundreds of files. I need a quick way of converting them.

Any ideas?

A few questions:

1. What is the format of the files? PSD, AI, DXF, something else?

2. If each of these files was originally done in a vector program such as Illustrator, does one have access to the original file, or only a flattened, rendered, pixel-based version?

3. In the example you posted, did you make up the two line shapes yourself (and we are seeing the control points and paths/shapes that *you* used), or would one actually see these features if you opened up your files? Specifically, I'm trying to figure out whether each line was (tediously) drawn as a shape, as I suspect you did, or might the rounding be simply due to the size of the stroke and choice of line end options in AI.

1. Original format is .pdf

2. Originally built in a CAD based application - not an option to go back

3. The line shape on the left is actual (I pulled it directly from the "Example4.pdf" in my 2nd post) the one on the right, I made up.
On the left, you see the control points you would see in the real file. On the right, are the two control points that I created to mimic what I need (there can be more control points, but I need a single straight line rather than the rounded object on the left.)
