Is the pen tool the best ways to use on this image to get all of the fine detail??which best toll shall I use? thanks for the assistance all.

Apologize, I used wrong choice of words earlier. I am trying to erase out the background and leave just the motorcycle (the blue one) but there is so much detail in the background.. which tool is the right choice?? thanks!

yes. I'd say that in this case, the pen tool will render the best results.. You'll have a hell of a time with the spokes though.. You may consider just making them. The rest is pretty cut and dry.

Hi ronmatt, i am not used pentool before but i use magnet-lasso and quick mask to select he image perfectly.

Now with the latest Adobe CS 3 we don't have do the manwork to make a selection 'The Quick selection tool 'do's all the work for us and also to redefine the edges.

I want to know the real tutorial of using the pen tool in tough situation can you give me any link here.why i am this is because i already mentioned above that i use different methods to make my selection.

Perfectly with the magnetic lasso tool and at that size? I guess my idea about what?s called ?perfect? is different than yours MindBlasting.

That tool is indeed an improvement over the magic wand tool, but not more than that based on my own experiments. Once you have to deal with difficult edges with little contrast and a difficult background you run into the same problems that any other automated extraction tool suffers from and always will suffer from. They all can be a useful addition to our "extraction toolbox" but not more than that.

As for the pen tool; nothing beats the pen tool when it comes to things that have smooth lines and curves against a difficult background or with blurry edges.

you may be wright gaussain but i can't completely agree with your choise.Your wright eventhough i never used pen tool i made a lot of work using other tool and saw the use of pen tool to redraw the edges pefectly.

Mind you, Adobe CS3 contains a great combination of tool that allow you to make your work fast its damn sure i am using it,if you do the work in Ps v7.0 to PS CS2 in 30 min.
You can do it in less than 15 min... and i am sure for expertise work use should grab a copy of CS3.( not to mention i think your an expert in PS and plz don't tell me that if you know well about photoshop we can do it any PS versions).

And also i mention to give the best pen tool tutorial or any other link that will show me the best results about using the pen....why i am asking this is, i recently saw about the usage of the pen tool and i want to know more about it.
