This why you don't give up on something your good at. Back in middle and high school I was a decent artist. But I let it get away from me. I got a new graphics tablet today and started messing around with it. My drawing skills have gone down greatly. Wish I still had some of my old art work to compare it to, oh well. It's not much, but I think I need practice.

It's the new tablet mate, try the very same thing on paper and it will look totally different i bet.
Tablets are really good but take a while to get used to, new feel of pen to pad over pen to paper etc, new angles to work from all makes for a learning curve stick at it it does get easier and in the end you will find it is in a lot of ways better.

If its a passion it'll happen, looks like you're on the right path, so give it all you got and the skills only get better!

I had similar issues having stopped drawing for a while then going back into it, it's like riding a bike, one day you're doing wheelies the next you're wobbling all over the place, but it comes back eventually keep going you will get there.

Practice circles and straight line just to get used to the tablet, then just keep doodling till you are competent with it then go for full on drawings.

You are right. Though since I ride my bike everyday I've gotten used to how it rides and know it's limits. Though I push it past those limits. Probably explains why I've broken many bike frames over the years . So I guess I'll have to take that approach to drawing. Somethin I'll have to work on daily, I just can't push it past it's limits.

I have noticed one similarity between using paper and this tablet, well at least for me. I have to have it angled at about 45 degrees. I find it more comfortable to draw and write that way.

I don't feel the difference on a tablet vs paper. I have a number of friends that tape a small piece of paper over the tablet....Also the "tip" on your bamboo pen can be changed..I think there are a couple of tips, rigid and flex ?

yeah it came with three extra tips. I've just left them in the bag they came in along with this metal ring looking thing. I dunno what it is. too big for the stylus so I dunno what it is. Maybe the owners manual will tell me.

The ring is the "tool" used to pull out the tip...The 3 tips are all the same, rigid

Ohhhhh...THAT'S what it's for. I've had my bamboo for about two and half years now and never had a clue what it was for. Still sitting in the bag with my extra tips.

O.O now it has 2 eyes ^^ ..... can't wait for the end results :)
For many people, the eye is always a tricky thing. But it looks like you got it. Don't forget the light glymph on the iris.

What kind of tablet did you get hershy?

I'm a happy owner of the Wacom Intuos5 touch L :)
It comes with 10 extra nibs, 5 standard nibs, one flex nib, one stroke nib, and three hard felt nibs. They seem to be hidden inside the pen holder lol, took me while to figure that out..(thanks to the manual)

Anyways, hope you get very good drawings and may the tablet be with you :P

I got the Wacom Bamboo tablet. So far it's not too bad. It's a good tablet for the money I spent on it. Hopefully I get better at drawing, I was when I was in high school. But that was about 14 years ago.
I am finding that trying to get ideas of what to draw from scratch is much harder than doing manipulations.
