Just Wondering about this manipulation.

I keep trying to do different things, I think this comes under surreal but not quite sure. Its about the end of mankind, it's meant to represent the human race being given an option between taking there own life or suffering in other ways if they do not from the impending invaders.

The man is pleading for his life, but as you can see there is still chairs with options for him.

Thank you.

I was thinking of adding some mounds of bones and skulls to show what has happen to those who plead instead of taking the other route, but did not know if this would be understood or be too much for the image.

I thought i might get in trouble for posting this type of image?, it can provoke or upset some, but i hope they realize it's just art.

honestly I don't see a problem with the mounds of bones like you described. Maybe like 1 or 2 mounds to give the idea would probably work.

Yup a little girl hanging herself, that qualifies as dark....

Just Wondering about this manipulation.

and just what were you wondering?

This is the creepiest thing you ever made. And yet, there is a horrific beauty to it. The focal point, the hanging girl, is startling and shocking. I imagine that's the idea. Teddy bears, wow. I don't really get the person leaning over. Who is he pleading to? It looks like he is preparing to sit down. You could add to the sense of horror by replacing the teddy bear behind her with a person looking. In fact two or three people scattered, impassive faces, watching the spectacle, doing nothing. I think skulls and bones would be too cliched and too obvious.

That about sums it up. Well, this kind of image is not everyone's cup of tea, which doesn't mean it is not a good manipulation. I had a hard time making out the bears on the chairs even with a 23 in monitor. Otherwise it is a compelling image, well balanced, and the color is moody, fitting for the atmosphere. I really like the random order of the chairs - which you have made not so very random. Good work, despite my initial visceral response. You got me inky! That's good.

Provocative....I like it in a way....I would love to see bones scattered, much more contrast....harsher and oversharpened....

OK so i re did it.

I added 60% more contrast, not putting any bones on it, got away from that idea after thinking about it, there are a lot of chairs and didn't think bones are necessary . Too many distractions over all with bones.

I thought about the man, but i think he fits, he is bending back so much due to the amount of pleading he is doing.

I re did the bears as i thought they were to light, i don't mind them being dark as dark fits this image.

Thank you all.

Stick to your guns hershy!

I didn't see that the man was bending back till I way enlarge it, but now I get the idea given that sort of cyclone in the sky.

Wow..good work BUT it bothers me. Y'all call it surreal but I call it just weird.

"surreal: having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic."

fits the bill to me.

I like it. The concept itself reminds me of my favorite movie, Children of Men. In it, the government issues an optional suicide medicine called Quietus, which gives you an idea of the depressing setting of the film.
