The ceramic

No, I'm not contesting what you wrote, lol. We had another glitch on the forum today, so I'm passing yours along. Just wanted to get your image up here.

i like it , not critising but the only thing is the piece missing doesnt look right to me , i think it needs to show the thickness of the ceramic , it just doesnt look like a piece to me that has broken out

i do like it though its a nice image

This is an excellent piece. Great idea, well executed with one exception........Do you have plans to develop this area?

Thanks very much guys for your input. I think this is a good point. I probably have to rethink that area and try to make the ceramic look better/bigger. Thank you.

The edges are better but it still does not look right. Notice the clarity of the revealed lower lip. There is no clarity in the big gray hole. The two conflict with one another where you can only see the slight hint of a nose and eye (which is to far to the right). In other words, the definition of the entire face would remain constant behind the ceramic mask.

Don't listen to me if this is what your going for!!!!

I agree about the nose Sam. The shadow would be far less there and the nose would be coser to the ambient lighting and mored defined as you say. But I disagree about the eye being too far right. Look at the mask. At least it seems to me that it lines up . . . I do wonder if there should be a bit more fill light in the shadow around the eye. But sometimes what I see is due to the tilt of my monitor as it has a glossy surface, grrr. Need to get a matte screen for it.

Thanks Clare! Your disagreement on the eye made me examine it closer! I stand totally corrected! Your right, the eye is fine!

This is the inverted image which reveals the eye.

See what you did in the darkened mouth are of your image, you need to do exactly the same processing for the eye area.

Thanks a lot guys for your comments.
The original idea behind the picture was that the face is pushing through the wall. At first there is a crack at the lip, then there is a real breakthrough around the eye. So both have been made with different techniques. Actually, the hole was a lot more work and I guess that's why I like it so much ;). But I can see that it is in some way in conflict with the crack at the lip. I have some ideas about what to do and also will try to concentrate more on the nose and the shadowing as you suggested. Thank you.
