The Ark of the Covenant?

Mark -- just delete this post if it's too annoying to others, politically incorrect, or "bothers" anyone.....(Erik already pulled his own post for whatever reason, so perhaps opinions expressed on this are too "controversial?")

Might as well party on while ya can! 8}

If a device was discovered that had powers beyond any understood by humankind, beyond all our science to explain -- leaving only the psychobabble left to describe = ie. "it's a miracle!" Then an impression would be made upon many....but unless it had the ultimate power to destroy all who were of the unbelieving/undeserving/sinful, etc. via (pick your religion/philosophy here) not many are really going to care about the discovery, if made, for long other than as a curiosity.

The Ark of the Covenent was to contain the "power of God" was it not? It seems I've only heard of this in terms of it's supposed power of ultimate "destruction" of an "enemy" and that being a people of another viewpoint.......hmmmm....... It beats me why an item with such destructive power would be an incredible gift to mankind. \:]

We've already got the ability to nuke this rock and all on it many times over -- nothing worse than that! Natural earthquake/ volcanic/ astroid impact/ weather-related etc. disasters have been occuring continually since "the beginning" (pick your philosophy about "how and why" it started here) --- nothing new there, and nothing will prevent more of it. Kinda silly, imo, to "predict" these occurances, or to "predict" people will do more of the same stuff they always have -- doh!!!! (P.S. we're NOT created perfect, imo it's obvious -- if we were we'd still have that supposedly idyllic garden of eden lifestyle (how boring!) --- and since we are sooooo flawed and full of "wrong" ideas per the notions of the various "religious," it's also pretty silly, imo, to consider a "perfect diety" would "create" little ol' corrupt/flawed/ outrageous humankind to devestate the planet and each other in a continual running saga.

Just my own opinion, of course, (and my opinions have gotta be "perfectly flawed" naturally = I'm just like everything that went into my "creation"!). 8D

I deleted my post myself because however much I like to vent my opinion on all religions great or small, it does not balance my desire not to start a discussion here on something not linked to PS.
I don't see this as auto-censorism but as a superbly executed fit of desire for peace and justice.

(Smeagol's voice: I hope they find it. I hope they find it.)
It would be quite a joke if they did.
Be shure scientists would be ready to reason it into reductionist sleep.

It is not dead that here may lie,
And within strange aeons, even death may die!

IA IA Shub Nigurrath!

hmmmm... ;)
Well, as this forum is for things other than PS, there's bound to be things in it "other than PS." I'll just amuse myself then with my musings........
(Mark, you can axe this if ya want)

True, varying opinions on anything leads to chaos of such at times...and more ideas (I like!). What the cosmos consists of, imo only, is a truly random chaos...no set of *identically* and infinitely repeating pattern (see the film "Pi" if ya want to know how finding the mathematics behind everything in the universe will just drive you mad)...even though science is trying hard to find that it is, it has a serious need for predictablilty and has always preferred this, and so are religious philosophies requiring this... ie., imo, there is nothing in nature repeated perfectly/ identically...it's all in flux, changing. Not even what humanity constructs is immune to change. I view all religions as "man made." This goes entirely against any religious philosophies of everything recurring endlessly in a pattern of identical sameness, reincarnation, etc, imo....thus the rereading of history as going to repeat exactly as before in a loop by some, and thus supposedly enabling those of "prophesy" to just remind us that nothing is new, it's all just a big rerun, because they've "viewed it."

I guess the idea of change is steadily resisted, still, (and people still want vengence upon those who bring up differing ideas = be gentle with a man's faith, it's all he's really got.....) even while philosophies waltz around it saying they embrace change they negate it in the same breath, and that humanity likes to impose patterns unvaryingly upon the cosmos so as to feel everything "safe" and "predictable." I find it interesting how hard humankind tries to "organize" everything into little compartments of what it finds comforting to it....and the enormous investment in efforts to make possible to "explain" anything and believe in anything one wishes, being both correct and incorrect all at the same time. [confused] We are certainly most skilled at that...ages of practice.

So....is it all *exactly* a rerun? If it is, we will see the Ark unearthed and everything written about it demonstrated as fact. Plenty more of death and destruction. Better party while ya can then. 8}
I guess I would be the raven then that would argue with God that treating humanity like this is a horrible game foisted upon beings who being frail and imperfectly made to begin with -- and the responsibility for that lies with God then, so do not deserve this harsh revengeful treatment.
The raven debates Noah and questions God ... it is written... and yet God puts up with it, even favors the raven, perhaps showing a sense of mercy and humor at least? ;)

Well, imo, I see no evidence that anything that has happened before is "exactly" like anything else. Nor do I see all the "prophesied" upcoming events unfolding "exactly" as said... but you can "see" whatever you want into anything, (and in remembering the enormous interest organized religions have in seeing their own views expressed/come true to control others is wrought with schemes and workings to arrange for scripted outcomes/self fulfilling prophesies -- as in the papal prophesies, imo -- and if you choose to believe in that then you better party now because there's only one Pope after this current one, according to St. Malachy, and 'Pope Peter' of Rome is gonna be the antichrist/very bad news...better pack yer bags).

Since there's never going to be any one consensus about any of it I guess I'll just listen to what my dear ol' dad and mom "predict" about the future = It's always gonna be there, but you're not, so make the most of it. 8D

so perhaps opinions expressed on this are too "controversial?"
So long as they aren't hurting or offending anyone 'directly', there's no reason to remove anyone's posts.

People are entitled to their own 'opinions'.

The proof, for me, in the power of the contents of the arc rests in whether it can improve the growth of my new garden. If it can't do that then we should all start praying to Miracle Grow because it does the trick. :D

Rich

:bustagut: :righton: I'm with ya on that, Rich...there's truly something awesome and inspiring about the results of Miracle Grow! 8D

"Imagine"...... ;)

to keep friends one should never talk about religion or pollitics. they only lead to un-winable arguements.
