I've created an Action & a Layer Style for this effect and have provided the files for this for a long time now over on the psT Forum. I'll be posting this and a few other Actions to the Adobe File Sharing site as soon as i get a spare moment. But for the time being, you can get the zip file >> here.

Here are a couple examples of what the Action/Style create. They're modifiable of course; meaning you can change the look slightly and turn off the moss/mold/bark if you want. And there's some textual instructions included also.

Have fun. :B

Great Action mark!
Right now I?m playing with it... :D
I have some actions also I?ll see if I submit them soon... :righton:

Looks awsome Mark.

Yesterday I got a phonecool from a old friend who wants my help with the cover for a CD containing Irish Folk music.
It is not a commercial thing so I do it for free. I think this action gives a great background for it.

When I used it and the cover is ready I will post it here.

Greetings Dirk

Mark,

One very small problem.

In the action woodbase the last command where you want to set the name of the layer to woodbase I get the message that that command cannot execute.

Ok this is a dutch version 6 of PS running on a very said peace of PC junk. So maybe when I try it at home with PS 8 on my superieur Mac G4 things run better. It does not makes any difference on the result but I thought I let you know.

Greetings from a still very much impressed Dirk :}

Ps Im am so glad I found you guys.

I would be expected it runs perfectly at home on the G4.

I wonder if the Adobe PS guys had any idear what great things could be done with there clouds filter when the first put it in the program [excited]

Greetings Dirk

Hey that came out really well huh? Nice job. :}

If that name on top is supposed to be 'burnt in' to the wood, remove the drop shadow. ;)

Looks good. :righton:

The idear is more carved out wood. Sort of 3D wood type. I have no idear what makes it sticks on its place
[stuned]
Burnt is a nice idear to

But maybe it is idrea to drop te dropshadow anyway. I will see.

Thanks for the reaction and thanks again for the action.

I am hoping for more of this great stuff.

:}

yeah, remove the drop shadow and switch the direction of the light so its casted toward bottom right. well, that what i feel would look more natural anyhow. : )
