TEXT Tool - Commit Text + Move

In photoshop elements you press 'T' for text

'Click' where you want the text. 'Type Text'

(Then when you move the mouse icon away from the text, without clicking)

The 'Move Tool' activates, 'Click + Hold Mouse' lets you place the text exactly where you want it.

When you let go of the mouse the text is commited.

Letting you press 'T' for the next text command.


How can you set this up in photoshop CS4.

I.e so 'Move' Commits Text???



At the moment in CS4 you have to manually commit the text by clicking ok. (up the top)

and then manually select move 'V' to move each one.



Any Ideas?

If I can set this up I might be able to use CS4 for work rather than relying on Elements.

I thin what the OP is trying to do is, when he typs something and moves it, once he has let go after moving it, the text is set and he can then start typing again in a new text layer, with CS4 you have to click the tick at the top, or click the text layer.

I guess the OP what's his text work flow in CS4 to be like in Eliments.

Press "T" to use the text tool, type in your text, press CTRL+Enter to commit text, press "V" for the move tool, click and hold.... drag to where you want the text. Press "T" again for the text tool.

Is that what you were asking?

Yes the workflow for text is much more streamlined in elements.

There is a checkbox in elements general preferences. it reads!

"Select Move tool after committing text" (this seems to be missing in CS4 Extended)

Also, Yes you don't have to click 'ok' up the top to commit text. I'll try using "ctrl+ enter'

you merely press 'T' for text, click where you want, 'type text'

then moving the mouse away from the text layer (automatically) activates the 'move tool'

and moving (CLICK+HOLD+DROP) the text 'commits' it.

Then you press 'T' for the next text layer. etc etc.


You don't have to manually commit the text by pressing anything and you don't have to press 'V' for move.

It's amazing how much better, faster, acurate, ra ra ra..

PS4 is the same way, you write what you want then move the mouse away from the text and drag it where you want....

Matter of fact, you can write your text and while still in cursor mode hold down Ctrl and it will pop up the free transform box and when you let go of Ctrl it go's right back to cursor mode to type..
