When typing with text, the cursor will not move to the next line after hitting enter. It will, however, go back to the start of the line and allow new text to be entered over the first set.

What give?

sounds like your text is set to big for the document or vis versa

Is your spacing between lines set to auto? I know if it is set really low it will put lines of text seemingly over each other.

I'm no genius.....just have run into that problem before my self. Lackey, I would encourage you to make a couple lines of text, then select all the text and play with all the values in the character pallet. Scrub them by clicking and dragging on the icons next to the drop down menus. You can adjust the space between lines, characters, distance above or below the line all kinds of neat stuff in there. Scrubbing works in alot of places not just in the character pallet. If you see an icon in a pallet anywhere, click on it and drag to adjust the value doesn't work everywhere but it does work in alot of places and it makes changes as you scrub so you can get the setting just right.

Yeah, I learned PS from youtube videos. I'm a grad student of Landscape Architecture. It's a very sophisticated program. Very sophisticated. Like all programs like that, when something goes wrong, it can be some obscure setting that you would never know about without hours of research or someone who comes along to help you out. Just glad I got the latter.

Yea, once you learn the Interface, things will get so much easier..

Btw, i learned form videos to and sitting here playing with Ps for days on end..
