Template Help - "Place Photo Here"

I had a template at one time that allowed me to drop a photo into a box in the payer pallet and the photo became that layer with preset layer properties. How would I create such a box that I would be able to drop a photo into on the layer pallet?

I'm not sure of this template you discuss, but you might try edit>paste special>paste into I think it is . . . maybe this is what you are thinking of?
