Hi, I am trying to take text from a image i have created but not too sure how to.
I have created an image and the color of the text is coming from the background by using the Darken Color blend mode. If i remove the background, the color of the text will go as well and will just be white text. I want to have the text with the color but without the background. Sorry if that sounds really confusing, i tried to explain it simply but its hard:frown:

These are some images from my image;

Before flattening select the layer of text, select text only then merge layers copy then back up to where you have all layers again then paste the clipboard to top layer. That way you will have both rasterized and open layers.

Just selected with the magic wand and placed on it's own layer. With careful selection you could get a better result.

You did not select the text only you selected around the text. that same selection process right-click your mouse and invert no need to do that now though I see your freebie above

I will have another go at your method anyway, thank you for your help though man!

:thumbsup: once you do it,you'll see it's real easy........ good luck and it's going to be a process you use frequently

The problem I see with selecting the text with the magic wand tool is that you loose the outer glow softness and you end up with a hard edge.

Use the command + click > shift + command + click to select each individual text layers by clicking their thumbnails, then use Refine Edge and set the feather to about 5.0 you get a much smoother edge.

You can also add back an Outer Glow layer style!

No, in my test 5.0 was what it took to soften the hard edge and salvage the glow. You would have to experiment to see what worked with the combined text layers you were working with. I only used 3 text layers.

Hi Sam, i have been using your method and it works great up to the point when finishing the refining edges. When pressing Ok, it will either create a new layer or document (what ever i select) but the color still wont be on them. Am i doing it wrong?

Make sure that the OUTPUT of the refine edge is set to selection.

the text needs to be rasterized, are you bypassing that step?

Before you save it as a rasterized image backup so you savei your layers

iDad, after the refine edge, when you hit command + J to copy the selected text to a new layer, it will rasterize.
