Hello again:D ,

Now I am slowly picking up the pace with PHOTOSHOP.
Now I got a simple doubt about styles, That may be complex which I am not aware of.
I actually created a pixel border, following this tutorial here,
http://robouk.mchost.com/tuts/tutorial.php?tutorial=pxborders

And I followed the tut and nicely created the needed effect and saved it as an action too, Till here everything is cool, But the Author of that tutoril gave me a hint that if I save the same thing as new style I would be able to save time next time.:)

So Now When I can use the action I recorded, What is the need of a style, But I am not successful in making that style though.
A quick tip would be fine on this matter. I aprreciate the help.

Thanks,

Hi dzigns, i like the new avatar. :righton:

Actions are usually used for things more complex then Styles. Styles can be included into an Action, but Actions cannot be included into a Style.

Both have their own specific uses/strengths.

In your case, if all you need is a simple effect applied to a shape in your image (like outlining it, or filling it with a gradient, or making it glow, or all of these things), then a Style should suffice. If however your image effect requires things like making specific selections, using the alpha channels, applying filters from the Filter menu, etc etc... then you'd want to use an Action for that; because all of those types of functions/tasks can be recorded in an Action -- but not within a Style.

The example image here shows what button you'd click in the "Layer Effects" window, to create a new "Style" from your current filter settings. The New Style then gets added to the Style Palette. You apply this new style by simply clicking on the layer you want to effect, then clicking your desired Style from within the Style Palette.
To open the Style Palette, look under the WINDOW menu for "Styles".

That help?

Thanks MARK......

Hi,

Your answer helped me for sure. But still I have to work lot on these STYLES to get a clear picture. I'll do that.

My avatar :D , I got it from the net. I thought it would be nice if I use it as my AVATAR , the interesting thing in this is it's SIZE less than 10 kb, I created an AVATAR myself, but I am never able to compress it to 10kb or less than that.

I don't know the compression technique actually. I tried with image ready too, even if I go for the poorest quality, my avatar is never less than 10 kb in size.:( , But that's O.K I won't be leaving it, I will do it and put it as my AVATAR one fine day............:)

Thanks a LOT.
