Stripes for a logo

Hello,
i`m a new user of photoshop and illustrator and i'm having some problems to achieve this kind of stripes. Can you give me an idea how to start. I want to use them on an logo

Don't use illustrator much but if i were doing this in Photoshop then create a layer with a black fill/background, use the pen tool to create the shape and curve, then fill with a gradient layer

Pen Tool and Brush Tool.

Black BG.
Pen Tool set to path.
Create a path on a new layer.


Fill the path with the gold color.


Make a selection of the gold stripe layer.
Us the Brush Tool to add the shading,
