Strange but awesome idea

It is, but I bet there are some priests and religious people who would not agree with our POV.

Conversions like this are becoming more and more common. For example the university that I teach at has taken over an old church on the edge of campus and converted the inside into offices while leaving the exterior visible architecture as it had been.

What I find humorous about our newly-acquired church is that the offices inside now house the staff that deals with cases of student cheating. Perhaps there is a dungeon in the basement that they are not telling us about, LOL.

Cheers,

Tom

I agree Tom that some people would object.
Even though I am absolutely not a catholic, I am often surprised at weddings how sparsely clothed some women are in church.
But then again, a supermarket is a decent place and it's purpose is to feed people, so the saints would certainly appreciate it

And have you ever seen

You should visit some of our non denominational mega churches here in the US, one would quickly assume that clothing is optional.

Just so I understand, are these old abandoned churches or are they still active?

Not sure about the movie...........don't have time to watch it.

Yup, and in fact, back in the late 1970's or early '80's, we were staying nearby and made it a point to eat one of the several Alice's restaurants owned by Alice:

If my memory serves me, we saw Alice bustling about dealing with customers, but we didn't speak to her.

And, if I'm not mistaken, the old church building that was the setting for the movie was purchased by Arlo (or someone acting on his family's behalf) and turned back into something like a non-denominational religious / worship center.
