Where am I going wrong.. I like the way I have it now hehehe. I've tried 3 different times and I just can't seem to get the last 2 steps :{ [doh] It is driving me nuts :P Anyway here it my starburst for what it is ;\

A very new newbie to photoshop even though I've had photoshop for a year [innocent]
 
Nothing wrong with that... but I'm assuming that isn't the effect that you're going for. My first guess is that when you apply the "wind" filter, you have it set to "stagger" and not "wind" and it's shifting the pixels both directions... hence the hole in the middle. If that isn't the answer you're looking for, maybe post an example/link to see the effect you WANT or explain what ISN'T working in yours. :)
 
Welcome aboard Foxshorty! :)

Your "starburst" looks great, thus far! ;) All you have to do now is give it some colour. Read through the last two steps of the tutorial, very carefully. It's all there!

Just make sure that when you CTRL + click on the starburst layer (to select the transparent area) that you leave the selection 'active' while you add a new layer above it and fill the selection with white. This diagram might help you!
 
Correction Wendy...

Ctrl+SHIFT+I to invert a selection.
Ctrl+I inverts the colours on a layer.

Other than that, your advice is correct. :righton:

Thanks so much for the help and the welcome :D . I'll keep working on the Starburst until I get it right :)

I must add that I love the 3d emoticons.. They are really B7 compared to the ones that I use on other bb's :D
