Spiral Text

Does any one know how to make text in the shape of a spiral? I am very new to Photoshop, and I have looked at a few tutorials, asked some friends for help, and played around with some options, but I have not been able to find anything. I have access to Photoshop 7.0 and Illustrator if either of those programs could help. See http://www.soundintentions.com/splash.htm
for an example of what I mean by spiral text.

I wouldn't try to do it purely in Photoshop since you'd have to place all the letters basically by hand. Since you mention Illustrator though, what you can do is make a spiral path, grab the "Path Type tool" and type right on that path... the words will follow the spiral path as their baseline.

If you need the text in photoshop for some reason after that, you can cut and paste it in.

Hopefully that will get you going. :)

Well... yeaaah Mark. I was assuming a more complex spiral. If you had more than one loop, you'd still have to place several portions manually.

If you have Illustrator and use the methods I described, even not knowing how to use the program you'll be done before you finish positioning one text warp element in Photoshop. :D

But from an imperical sense... yes your uber-guruness, it can be done entirely in Photoshop if needed. :)

Can you give us the text.. and maybe a few of us could try in Illustrator to show you possibilities?
