Ok I was just reading a thread addressing the history in photoshop ie the amount of steps you can go back in undo mode what a lot of people dont realise is that all though the default step back is 20, that goes for every tab/window you have open, so if your like me and you have multiple tabs open at 1 stage photoshop can have anything in the region of 100 state changes (an example). if you get to the stage where you are happy with everything in all the tabs that you dont want to undo anything go to Edit>purge you will get an option for histories all clipboard etc. if you click all it will delete all the history files (state changes etc) clipboard and any thing else taking up valuable ram you will get a warning that this can not be undone but if you are happy with your work at this point it definately clears the cache and makes photoshop run much smoother hope this helps more aimed at the heavy users but still a usefull tip so I think
