I am really into speedart videos as of late and enjoy making them, I was wondering if it would be worth starting a thread so people could all submit their speedart. I would start 1 with just me as I enjoy making them but I am sure you guys would get bored of seeing them if they just came from me, I am the 1st to admit I program hop from illustrator > cinema 4d > photoshop etc and I know many people are here because they are die hard photoshop enthusiasts. So if anyone would be interested in a completely loose ended thread anything goes no competition etc just a place to upload speedart then reply and we will see if it is something that is popular or not.

Just incase any of you is not sure what speedart is then simple answer is you record making your project using screen capture software if it takes 3 hours then you speed up the video add some music and publish the video running at about 10 mins long. So not really a tutorial just a glimpse at techniques used. Experienced people can probably keep up and see what is going on newbies will be like wt how did they do that etc...

let me know we could maybe have a theme each week if that is wanted.

mmm I wouldn't say I do speedart I have done a few dabbles at it and they suck but this is why I would like an active thread so a reason to keep doing it. I find it hard to sit down and create work just for myself after doing it a lot for work hobby soon starts to feel like more work.

But lovee the idea of make it up as you go along and seeing if you can create something good or something that can just be deleted.

knowing that your recording adds that extra bit of pressure and excitement.

I have to admit my attempts have been really boriing as they can get and already once you upload the video you can see major mistakes where as if you were taking your time would never have happened.

But I would like to get more confident and try doing some big 5+ hour project into a <15 min video

suppose to be quite good I use the full size version but be careful with free programs sometimes they have a time limit of around 15 mins, others have watermarks on them. fraps is good especially for lower end computers because it doesnt convert the video as it records so doesnt cause much system slow down. Other software can cause your computer to lag if you dont have a powerful system. The downside to programs like fraps is the video file can be around 1 gig per minute of recording if your recording for 2 hours then your going to run into problems.

Also recording a video for 2 hours will cause system lag if you dont have high spec computers so some people may want to use programs that takes a screen shot every 5 seconds as an example then compiles a time lapse video at the end.

So test it out for a bit first before you start an actual project especially if you have several programs being used, you would hate to do a project for 2 hours to find the video gave up after 10 mins.
