Something strange happens when I write text!

When I try to write normally using the text tool the whole image is masked in a translucent red/pink. I double click to see what I have written and the text is outlined in a 'zebra' highlight and disappears when I use another tool. Boo!

Is there any way I can reset the text tool? I may have reset something while trying to write 'transparent' text (where the layer below shows through the text and the rest is masked off, I never actually succeeded in doing this!)

sounds like you have it set for Type Mask Tool, Go to your T Tool right click it, set it for one of the 2 type tools Horizontal or vertical
