IMO, the tiger should be larger, more into the foreground. "Screw it" is an attitude that works when you need to take a break from an image. This forum is a good place to get ideas for what's next. We do that a lot here. Post an image, get a critique, make some changes. Then you move on to the next challenge.
Here are some things you could try to create a better blend:
Make sure any adjustments you make are layer adjustments. Increase the contrast or levels of the background, not by a lot. Use the layer mask to paint with a soft brush and fade the distance some. Sharpen it a little and treat the distance the same way with the mask. Oh, you'll need to make this layer a smart object to get a mask for any filters you apply.
Darken the tiger's appearance with a levels or curves adjustment, but don't apply it to the eyes (unless they end up too starkly bright or something). If you move him forward you'll need to consider adding some dappling to his coat where the light come through. Use the layer mask for that too.
Then consider a slight color balance or hue/sat adjustment if the rest doesn't work enough. Take a look at the before and afters of Inkz's work and see how he treats the original colors to make them a touch magical. I'm not saying this needs it; but it's a thought.
Lastly, the slanted lines need to be mimicked on the tiger. Sounds simple but that might be the hardest thing to create.
Well, those are my ideas. Seems like a lot but it isn't that much. Getting a manipulation to work takes time and experiment, so I'm also not saying that all my suggestions of above are what the image actually needs. Anyway, you said it!
