smart object masking problem

hi firstly sorry my english.

i'm trying to mask smart object example i have a box, i want to put the image into box with smart object, cause i want to change image when i want... is there easy and better way to do this?

You can add layer mask to Smart Object layer itself, there is no need to wrap it in a group. Just don't forget to unlink the mask.

You can also split the box layer in two: the foreground part and the background part. Move the foreground part above Smart Object layer and background part - below Smart Object. This way you can add different Layer Styles (Drop Shadow, for example) to all three layers. Link both box layers so you could move or transform them as one.
