Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and to photoshop too. What I'm looking to do is probably quite basic but I have no idea where to start.

I'm trying to create thumbnail images for a wapsite I'm creating. The process is getting really time consuming using MS Paint (as I have to create hundreds of these images) and I understand that I can cut the process down by recording the steps (and applying a hotkey eg F1) within photoshop? As I'm new this, this is as far as I have managed to get. This is what I aim to do (whilst recording the steps):

- Open a photographic image in photoshop
- Draw a rounded rectangle around the image
- Black out the area around the rounded rectangle

The result should be a rounded rectangle thumbnail photo on a black background. Hopefully I can record these steps so that I can simply open an image, press f1 and these steps will just be applied. This will save me weeks of labourious resizing and will ensure that each rounded rectangle is consistently the same size. I'd also like to be able to control the total image size eg width x height.

Can anybody provide simple step by step instructions on how to do this?

I can then insert the text underneath in MS Paint using the text button, but if there is a way of doing this in photoshop, this would also be useful to know.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Dan

Hundreds?

Have a look at Easy Thumbnails - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com. I have never used this program, but have heard good things about it.

While photoshop is great for most things, creating mass amounts of thumbnails is best left to another program unless you have lots of time on your hands. Unless, of course, they have added a feaure that I am unaware of to automate the process.

Edit:
Man! I should have read the entire post. Sorry, for what you are trying to do the program I mention here wont be much help.

What you need to do is create an "Action" in photoshop. Are all your images the same size?

As above

Thanks for your reply

Yes the images are roughly the same size, but I want this process to ensure that they all end up the same size using the rounded rectangle
