Simple Magic wand question

Hi, Im trying to select this part of an image... its a different colour and easily distinguishable e.t.c how can I select it with the magic wand?/ how can I deselect certain parts with the magic wand?

If using CS:6 then select the Magic wand too, check the box at the top next to contiguous, set tolerance to around 25 and hit the white part of the map. To deselect an area, hold the "Alt" key and click on the area's you want to deselect.
