Hi guys!

I remeber seeing how do something similar to this on here a while ago, but can't seem to find it again?

PS help.jpg

I'm looking to do the same as the example here, but obviously with my own text.
If some could post a quick step by step to get the directional lighting like that I would be forever grateful!

This is probably done by creating a selection shape which you can do with the marquee ellipse, the pen tool, or the elliptical shape tool. Once you have your selection, you can do a couple of things. Take a large soft brush, low opacity, and click within/along the edge of the selection. Your color will be constrained by the selection edge. Or you can make a radial gradient, color (as in white or...) to transparent and position the gradient tool to fill the selection properly. Personally I think the brush is faster and easier.

Hi,

This is a fairly easy effect that can be created several ways.
This is a visual tut to back up what Clare was suggesting!

Create a new document of the size you desire.
Fill that with the color you desire.

Create a new layer.
Next, I would use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to create the ellipse. Here I have zoomed out so I can see the edges of the ellipse, I use the space bar to move the ellipse as I'm creating it.

Select your Gradient Tool. In the tool options bar select the radial gradient icon. Open your Gradient Editor and select the Foreground To Transparent preset, click OK.
Make sure that white is set as your foreground color. (Hit D then X)
Pull a gradient going from top to bottom. Hit Command/Control + D to deselect.

Lower this layers opacity to about 60%.

Create a new layer.
Select your Brush Tool.
Select a nice soft brush, increase or decrease it's size to fit, click once maybe twice at the top of the gradient.
