simple layers compositing question

I want to combine parts of 3 images ( different exposures of hte same subject.)
I see the way to do this with 2 images. I just put them in layers, make a mask (white) on the top image, and paint away in black. What do I do to combine the end result of the 2 image composite with a third image.

I hope this is clear.
Thanks for the help.

Craig

you can do the same, put the 3rd layer on top and with a mask paint away the part you dont want.
or in the layer window(on the right) select the 2 image layers, right click>merge layers. that makes them into one layer.
then just do the same as you did before. ^^

just guesstimating what you plan to do....

Do the same with the second layer but black on the area you want to hide.

Take notice the black of the masks on the two top layers overlap each other.

Not sure if this is even what your referring to but it might help. It's almost identical to what DV8 was showing you but i used a gradient. I just combined three separate images into one.....side by side and not overlapping one another.

Combining three images.

Thanks everyone.
I've taken one step forward and it has created a couple questions.

The gradient tool has worked. I stack 3 images in layers. Create white masks in the top two. The middle layer I drag the gradient from left to right (color set to black.) The top image I drag the gradient right to left. The result is that I see an image that includes portions of all three layers. Great!

Question:

If I use the same technique but instead of the gradient tool I use the paint brush I can only see two layers. Why is this?

Thanks you for your help.

Craig

Without seeing your image layers I can only guess.... In my post example, the black masks of the 2 top most layers intersect. this will reveal the background first layer. Do you have any of the black layer mask parts interlapping?

Thanks all!!
With your suggestions I've got initial success with all tools. Some fine tuning to figure out so maybe I will be back with some intermediate nubbie questions. lol.

dv8: Yes, it was just a matter of interlapping. With regard to your other point. How do I post an image of my layer panel?

Thanks Again!
