Illustrator simple gradient

trying to make a dark red to black gradient. but the middle of it is an ugly grayish. I want it to go from red to black gradually with out the gray middle. just the red getting darker until its black.

If you want a gradient to go from 1 colour to another then it has to fade into a colour inbetween so with Black it will be grey

your gradient is perfect but I still don't get it for sure. can you do a screen shot of the gradient slider/window so I can see what you did? I feel stupid because I've done this before.

I'm sorry if I was not clear, but I'm working in Adobe Illustrator.

Hang on Let me load up illustrator sorry was busy on another project my example was in photoshop

You need to make the colour red by clicking on the red pin and change the opacity to 100%

I am guessing you have your document set to cmyk and trying to use an RGB Gradient

if you have cmyk you need a cmyk gradient and same for RGB you need RGB gradient
