Hi guys, a newbie here. from the pix attached, u can see that im trying to turn an info card & B&W logo into a better business/name card. i'm helping a friend while learning PS, so any critic or suggestion is welcome :)

The info and additional info as below:-

theme: smart & simple
company: perdana lagoon enterprise (Perdana = Prime in English)
service: vacation apartment rentals (daily,weekly,monthly)
resort name: PD Perdana Condo Resort (PD stands for Port Dickson, name of a district)
no of person in charge: 2

tagline: below are some that I can think of:-
1.Comfort is All Yours
2.Comfort Your Vacation
3.Best Stay for your Holidays
4.Your Complete Vacation Needs

or should I just put "Vacation Apartment Rentals"?

features: affordable,comfortable

Apartment facilities:

~ Aircond ~ TV ~ Refrigerator ~ Kitchen ~ Some units come with Astro

Resort facilities:

~ Swimming pool ~ Tennis court ~ Squash court ~ Guarded area ~ Parking ~ Children playground ~ BBQ set at the pool

My question:
a)which design u think the best? what should I change/add? (in terms of info position, logo size, coloured logo or
not, frame the logo, etc)
b)for the BACK side, im thinking to put calendar. or better to put the features, facilities?
c)which tagline u prefer?or any other ideas?

thanks in advance :)

There ok...

But the gradients used on these cards are too brutal. Go for a more subtle approach and the Palm tree logo reminds me of clip art. Try making up a vexel style palm tree, something simple but resembles a palm tree.

How about, "When Comfort is All You Need" as a slogan.

So, IMHO:

I think the cards are a bit boring.

Creating your own vector palm tree like Inkz suggested might help. I could see it as an abstract representation, filled in subtly rather than stroked, maybe taking up more of the card as part of the BG with text over it.

I think a different font for the PL would be good. Something just subtly exotic; the bland sans serif is just, well, bland.

Thanks Inkz for your input. Could you please show me example of not-too-brutal/softer gradient? So that I can differentiate.

The tree logo is provided and I use it as it is, and try to color it too. I agree with you, that the logo quite complex with too much tiny line (which I think not suitable for a logo) and not unique (as it just like a clip-art sample). I didn't like the logo in the first place though. I dont think I will stick with the tree-type logo, which I found is typical for this field. Maybe I can come out with simple logotype for the PL.

Ok...

Just waiting for Ps to boot and I will post in some nice subtle gradients for you to look at.

Hi ibclare, thanks for the slogan suggestion. Will try to see if it fits.

Maybe I can understand your point better if you could please give example of "Stroked vs my Subtle Filled". Mostly, I just adjust the information positioning and coloring. What can I do to make it looks better?

Well, I put the PL before I have the logo, so its more to rough draft actually. Now,as the tree-logo seems not suitable, I'll just go play with the PL logotype. Change it to serif font and the P & L position. If you could illustrate some, would be nicer too. hehe

oh ya, why not... actually I kinda agree about more brutal gradient approach of yours... the colors are kinda harsh for eyes... you know white on sky-blues and green on whites are not good and unreadable...

try THIS and THIS to get the ideas about colors and gradients furthermore search on google for color combination wheels etc. The Palm Tree and PL looks okay but if colored well.

:) Good Luck

Thanks Guru Evil Nemesis for your review. It will remind me to avoid unreadable & harsh color combination.

Now I understand more on color combination after your given link suggestion and what to search for on google. (sometimes people blur what to search for until they receive some suggestions, well at least it happen to me).

If like so, then I will try to color it better. :) Thanks again..

Heres a basic concept with a subtle gradient and a vexel logo.

Hello Inkz, thank you very much to have your time to show me the subtle gradient concept sample, with the vexel logo too. Appreciate it, and it helps me to understand better. Also with the color theme chosen, so sharp and so nice! :)

Thanks again Inkz..
