Should I Calibrate My Printer?

Hi Folks,

I just need some advice I’m wondering,if I should purchase a spectrophotometer ( if that’s the right name) to calibrate my printer. The printer is a Epson Sure Colour P7000, the papers I use are from Hahnemuhle. Are the Hahnemuhle profiles good enough?

Yes, there is some colour difference from what is displayed on the monitor and what gets printer out. I understand that even after calibrating my printer, there will still be some difference. What I want to know is if the difference will be reduced after the calibration or the Hahnemuhle profiles along with the Epson P7000 is good enough.

I am aiming for the highest quality prints out, as these printouts are reproductions of paintings.

Will appreciate your thoughts, it will be a big help.

Thks,
Mary

If and when you print your results and the Hahnemuhle profiles do not seem to be accurate, and you have ruled out other possibilities, then you should attempt a calibration.

Mary, if your ultimate goal is high quality and color accurate prints of painting reproductions, then you need to take every step possible to attain the desired outcome.
