That is indeed a GREAT technique.  I saw it mentioned in the Topaz newsletter that arrived a day or two ago.  I don't usually read many of their articles, but that one caught my eye, and I must say took me completely by surprise.  I've seen and participated in dozens (maybe hundreds) of threads on sharpening over the decades, and I've never heard that technique ever mentioned.  If it's as good as it looks in the tutorial, it's a real addition to one's tool kit.  I can't wait to try it out.
