Shape Tool Question

I have a question about the shape tool. I am currently unable to change the size of my shapes. I need to put the trademark symbol on a logo but mine is like 2 pixels wide. I have tried everything I can. I have searched google but I must be the only person in the world to ask this. I am using Photoshop cs5.
Also concerning the shape tool, can I change the color of the shapes. Like from black and white to blue and red or something. Thanks

Just choose the shape you want to use. Holding Shift, click-hold on the screen and drag until it's as big as you need it, then release. That created a shape layer, which you can apply a Solid Color adjustment layer to.

Have you predefined a size

make sure these boxes are clear
and yes whatever your foreground colour is will be the colour of the shape

I hate shortcuts. I always forget what they are. As for the boxes. Mine look different.

Hi Nerdest,

Renegades instruction is dead on with the exception of color change! (can be done the way he described as well) You can do that with the fill box.

Click the fill box and choose a color..

There are no shortcuts mentioned in his instruction. Holding the shift key is not a shortcut. It maintains the proportion of the shape as you pull it out.

Show us a screen shot of how YOUR boxes are different!

Clicking and dragging works as long as I am out of the photo but I cant see it when I drag it to the photo.

Lets see if this will postfull table 650.jpg

So, correct me if I'm wrong. If you have an image (photo) open, and without opening a new document, you then select the Custom Shape tool (with the TM shape chosen) you can not see the TM shape once you begin to drag it to size?

Ok, try clicking this setting and try it again. Let me know what happens.

This is what I did. I made it on the canvas with the intentions to move it where I wanted it. But that is not working either.

I have it on there. Not the way they wanted it I am sure. I will play with it more in the mornimg guys. Thanks

I hope it worked for you!

You can move the shape with the move tool. You can resize the shape using Control + T.

You can change the color by double clicking the thumbnail of the shape which will open the color picker..

Good luck!

If you go to the shape toolbar and see the custom shape, there is an arrow next to it. I have CS6 now and it is different as you have seen in the screenshots. I think there is a dimension entry in that dropdown box. I'm sorry, I don't remember for sure.

I hated to run like I did last night. I have to take a med at night from a back injury years ago and last night it hit much sooner than I expected it to. With your help however I found on the toolbar a reference point locator and it put kind of a crop box around it that has allowed me to place the shape and to size the shape. Still working on getting the color right.

Walla, EUREKA, my fine young men. By Jove, It's A Jolly Good DAY!

I got it. It's always good to view an old problem with very fresh and well rested eyes. I re-searched, and I am not allowed to publish links yet. But with you guys helping and then I found (look at the image" and then it all came to me. I would really like someone to post this link here in case someone else searches the forum to find an answer the this same problem. So I am posting the image which is all I am allowed to do.

sorry, here it is.solution.jpg
